This is the second design created by renowned Central Coast artist, Garry Purchase. KingPin commissioned Garry to create these unique artworks especially for the release of these eco packs.
Water is a giver of life. It nourishes us and sustains us. Keeps us cool and provides us with many food sources too. It is full of life and provides sanctuary to many animals and plants that live within it.
Water also possesses great power.
Whether it be the ocean or a river, its ebbs, flows and breathes and almost appears alive itself. Place your hand into the current. You will never touch the same water twice.
Garry is a proud Aboriginal man of Dharawal, Bidjigal, and Dhungutti descent, raised in Sydney’s Botany and La Perouse communities. He is a member of the renowned Timbery family, with notable ancestors including Timbery, leader of the Dharawal people, and Queen Emma Timbery, famous for their shell work. Garry is also related to world champion boomerang thrower Joe Timbery.
A former musician, Garry turned to painting after moving to the Central Coast in 2013. His modern take on traditional Aboriginal art focuses on personal experiences and social issues, pushing the boundaries of Aboriginal art. With a strong social media following, Garry’s works have earned multiple awards, including the Tony Donovan Award at the Reconciliation Exhibition in 2014 and 2016, and several Aboriginal Health awards.
